Things I'm Obsessing Over

I forget that people aren’t familiar with the fact that people in the South really do get married earlier

like when I first moved here it was really weird and still largely is

but I don’t know anyone in New York my age-ish that’s married, even if they’ve been dating several years and/or have kids together already

like in my family no one gets married and/or even engaged until they’ve had at least one kid together

But I have quite a few married and engaged friends here in North Carolina

but hey whatever

get married whenever

as long as you’re both consenting adults

I wonder how many of these people freaking out are pro-gay marriage

guess what. 

I believe in marriage rights regardless of demographics

as long as you’re all consenting adults

(and no this is not me equating the issue of young and gay marriage. I’m just saying you can’t make a statement to support one issue but then not consider it in another scenario)

So yeah. Just because people don’t get married/engaged where you’re from at this age, consider it a part of your culture, don’t judge the behavior of others.
