Kansas City: A budding hub for hackers? Thanks to Google Fiber, KCMO might become just the spot for hackers to get their startups off the ground. A tech-minded fellow in the midwestern city has created a new program, Homes for Hackers, which connects bootstrappers with a free place to stay, complete with high-speed Google Fiber access, for three months — just enough time to see if your crazy idea is worth pursuing further. There are more interested hackers than homes at this point, but with a little more publicity, who knows? Cool idea, either way.
