listen the writers of Grey’s Anatomy have done some cruel things to their characters

killing off George right after he was going to leave for the military and would be off the show anyway

Teddy’s husband dying on the table and the fallout from that

etc etc etc

but I think the cruelest thing was Webber watching his former lover Ellis succumb to Alzheimers. Then having to deal with his wife Adele losing her memory as well.
