put your itunes on shuffle on your ‘My Top Rated’ playlist
music I luuuuurve
no surprise
I’ve been listening to this song on repeat
My brain is just on a weird mood and insists it
I thought it was craving Kanye West in general but that didn’t work.
It just wanted this song. So I’ll just listen to it on repeat.
And know that somewhere Kanye is getting a god like vibe because of his apparent hold over my subconscious

Donate your functioning but unused iPod or other MP3 player to a great cause:
Hopefully, by now you’ve seen the video clip of “Alive Inside,” the documentary capturing the wondrous results of elderly nursing home patients being re-introduced to the music of their youth. … Daniel Cohen, the man who initiated bringing mp3 players into nursing homes and thus sparked filmmaker Michael Rossato-Bennet into making the documentary, is in need of more music players.
“There’s a huge need for iPod donations at many public and private nursing homes, where the interest from patients who miss their favorite music is far greater than the arrival of donated iPods to our collection centers,” writes Music & Memory, Cohen’s organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the elderly through music.
If you have an old iPod that’s gathering dust, consider donating it to Music & Memory. The organization checks out—Cohen is the actual guy the documentary crew followed around for a year—so you can be sure your old iPod will go to good use. “We’ll accept old, new, used, and even broken or damaged iPod players that our volunteer team can check and repair if possible for use in one of our centers,” says Music & Memory. “Our residents don’t mind a few case scratches or decals.”

“If you had to think of a word to describe the portraits of classical musicians and their instruments, what would it be? The one I thought of is: extremely boring. OK that’s two words. But really, when is the last time you saw an exciting photograph of a trombonist? [Let alone an awesome one!] Award-winning photographer (and cellist!) Nikolaj Lund has clearly identified the problem and solved it. His fun and often aggressive portraits take classical musicians out of the orchestra pit and off the stage and literally hurls them in the ocean, makes them tumble on the streets, and stagger through the desert. If I was a musician I would be calling this guy immediately (fyi, he’s based in Denmark). You can see much more of his [awesome] work on Flickr, and his website.”

a friendly reminder to download and listen to All Day if you have not already
it is a free download and one of my favorite albums of all time
although it’s not really as much an album as it is just one 71-minute-long piece of music
I’m glad I was reminded of this because I did not have it on my new laptop
perfect music for being stranded in the library
Elderly Man in Nursing Home Becomes Responsive After Hearing Music
And this is why I’m terrified of being old. Not because there’s something bad about being old. But because there are people that honestly think that remaining breathing and ‘alive’ in a nursing home is living. That up to 90% of their time is spent idle.
Or course these people deserve and want stimulation and enjoyment. Music seems like a logical source of both. And yet we need a documentary to tell us this.
Just seeing this man lighting up and returning to a more lively state. Tell me he probably does not sit in some sort of frightening limbo when he’s ‘unresponsive’.
I suppose this also just hits so close to home because my grandma is suffering from Alzheimers. And it’s so hard to watch. I went to visit over spring break and she didn’t know who I was. My grandma didn’t know who I was. She introduced me to my grandpa and when I left told me she was glad to have met me.
